WEST INDIAN SEA ISLAND COTTON

Though Barbados made its fame with Sugar the first planters didn’t grow sugar cane;  they started out with tobacco, indigo and cotton. By 1650, Barbados was the first of Britain’s West Indian colonies  to export this special fibre.

The ECCI “Cotton Experience” Tour  at Grove in the lush St George Valley highlights the fascinating history and heritage of West Indian Sea Island cotton and takes you through the Ginnery process to our product showroom.
