Planting of the 2008/2009 crop started in mid-August 2008. Harvesting was planned to commence in January and ginning in mid-February 2009. However because of unseasonal rains in the latter part of 2008 and early part of 2009 the cotton plants were late in producing bolls and therefore the start of the harvest was delayed. As a consequence, ginning is now planned to start in the third week of March.
